MOUNTAIN MEN'S RETREAT
June 27 to 29
No drum beating or chest beating! This is for pleasure.
Calling all males - friends, husbands, sons, fathers.
We will car pool to New Hampshire Friday evening - leave around 5-6,
arrive around 10-11, and will stay at the Mt. Moosilauke Ravine
Lodge, owned and maintained by the Dartmouth Outing Club.
www.dartmouth.edu/~doc/moosilauke/ravinelodge/
We will be nestled at the foot of and eventually climb Mount
Moosilauke, the verdant gateway to the White Mountains, lifting its
proud head 4800 feet. (yes, big but not difficult)
www.hikethewhites.com/moosilauke.html
We will have a day hike Saturday with three choices:
A leisurely flat walk with little incline for those so inclined;
a hike to the summit for our type A's;
and a hangout by the Connecticut River for the lame and intelligent.
Swimming possible but chilly. Mornings and late afternoons will have
2 zazen periods each. Evenings with conversation and games. Meals
provided, bag lunches for hikes. Warm days, cool night - close to
heaven.
Fee: $200/members; $225/non-members.

Commuters Zazen/Street Retreat in
Paterson, NJ
3pm Friday, July 25 to 11am Sunday, July 27
Join Sensei Genki along with Sensei Genro Gauntt
for a trek into a different kind of wilds – the streets
of Paterson. On Friday, we will sit zazen with Genki
and Genro at the zendo, then go home for the

night. We’ll be back at the zendo early Saturday morning to sit until
the afternoon.
Then we will leave all but our ID card at the Zendo and plunge into
the life and streets of Paterson with just the clothes on our back and
the pavement as our beds. We will eat in soup kitchens and beg for
money or food at times when soup kitchens are not open. We will
sleep outdoors or in abandoned housing, though not in shelters since
there are not enough beds. We don’t say we’re homeless; we’re
simply living on the streets for 24 hours, relying on the generosity of
the streets to take care of us. We will sit zazen and hold circles.
This is a powerful practice of not-knowing and bearing witness,
where the unpredictable life on the streets is the main teacher.
You can read more about street retreats.
The Zendo will be open to retreat participants only.
Fee: $108/members; $132/non-members.
